ADRENALIN: I always get great suggestions of new bands to check out by reading interviews and by word of mouth. What new stuff have you been listening to lately? MATT: If you like black metal check out Dust is Everywhere "Attics and Catacombs". This is a project led by the bassist of XXX Maniak. Also Azure Emote "Chronicles of and Aging Mammal"...this is total mankind hating music. Death Metal with mechanical sounds of pure misanthropy. There is nothing in music that sounds like this. ADRENALIN: How/Where do you get a lot of the samples that are before and after your songs? MATT: Many of them are self created. We'll create a scenario and put it to tape. Some are acquired the traditional way from movies. The samples are recorded much like the songs...with booze, bongs, bros and bitches. I'll put new sound fx to give them the needed realistic quality. ADRENALIN: There are some XXX Maniak splits planned right now. Are you working on a new album of your own? MATT: Yeah, it's definitely hard to stop the wave of splits and focus on making another full length,but besides a split cd with Coffins from Japan a full length is next. It'll be the catchiest songs ever created. The split with Coffins will be very focused on Stoner Violence. I will not let a full length be released unless I feel totally black in the heart and numb to reality while creating and finishing it. If it doesn't make me less human it is pointless. |
ADRENALIN: With your love for gore and sickness, you must have come with a lot of twisted shit for Halloween when you were younger. Any good stories? MATT: I usually just ate a lot of candy on Halloween. I only appreciate certain kinds of gore and sickness. For example, chemical zombies don't do much for me...I only like undead things that are unholy. ADRENALIN: Where can you get a good couple of gallons of blood these days? MATT: Same place as always...people ADRENALIN: Do you have many contests to see who can gross each other out worst? What's grosser than gross? MATT: As silly as the question is, you bring up a good point....what is grosser than gross anymore? who hasn't seen Japanese shit porn? How many bands have a song about making a baby eat your vomit and then raping it? Goregrind and Porngrind have traditionally been styles of music where anyone with a potty mouth could make something that worked. Now people have seen and heard it all. The elite porngore bands will have the mentality of serial killers. Intellectual Pathologists. ADRENALIN: Seen any good porn lately?
