Dog Fashion Disco

Interview with Todd, Greg, and John

Q: OK, Question Number One, Two and Three....Who are you? What are you about? And where did you come from?

Todd: We are Dog Fashion Disco-we have a combined weight of 850 lb. and an average height of 5-11.

Greg: Straight out of MoCo County...crazy motherfuckers named DFD

Q: Please describe in your own words what the music of Dog Fashion Disco sounds like?

John: We have been described as having a hard-core circus metal sound.

Q: What are the good and bad things of having a band based in Washington DC?

Greg: Good: The ability to bribe politicians for better gigs

John: Bad: The risk of being shot on the way to a gig

Q: In your bio under the category "Places Played" it shows you have covered a good portion of the East Coast so far. Any plans on taking over other parts of the country soon?

Todd: Actually we plan on doing nothing but touring..all over the country

Greg: We're up for touring the world!

John: With our genre of music..the main emphasis needs to be on hitting the club circuit as much as you can and reaching new fans. With our music style not exactly being mainstream, touring is really the best way to reach the kids and get the word out.

Greg: We can really forget about any mainstream radio play at this time. We are all about the road check out our latest tour dates (INSERT DATES HERE).

Q: When Listening to your CD, I hear a lot of different styles and some excellent thoughts. How hard do you think it is for a band to stay away from being compared to "EVERYBODY ELSE"? Do you think there are many more styles of music that has yet to be invented?

John: It seems that combinations of styles are the new direction. You got your rap-metal core thing happening-which is good stuff but it is definitely being used by a lot of bands.

Greg: Some of those bands are really good and some are really good imitators and we would like to avoid having our music pigeon-holed, but it is impossible in this day and age to avoid being compared to someone else.

Todd: We definitely have our specific influences but we do feel that our music is somewhat different and unique due to what our fans and critics say about it.

Q: What kind of crowd response do you get at your shows?

Greg: We get alot of the group sex thing happenin' --If we have a show and someone does not get naked and start to fornicate with the person next to him then we consider it a total failure.

Todd: We encourage our crowds to participate before and after the show.

Q: How did you get hooked up with your current manager, Derek Brewer?

Todd: He heard of the band by word of mouth and then preceded to stalk us for a couple of months-we eventually conceded and let him have his way with us.

Q: What does he or the band all do to promote Dog Fashion Disco and get your music heard?

Greg: Along with our booking Agent, ACA Booking, Derek hooks us up with as many quality shows as possible. We try to get as much radio and print promotion that we can conjure up.

John: We've been pretty successful with the whole magazine review thing. We've gotten some really good reviews from CMJ Magazine, Metal Hammer Kerrang! etc.

Todd: We do a lot of Internet promo and one of the best things we have is our beloved Street Team...this shit really works well. We have fans representing in many cities...willing to put flyers and posters all around the streets.

Greg: Word of mouth is by far the best way however.

Q: How Many people ask you "What the hell does Dog Fashion Disco mean"? and what is the story behind it?

Greg: Too many ask that..but this is the deal..the name itself is such an obvious contrast in words. We feel our music is like that also..I guess it's a somewhat cool name..with a stupid side to it

Todd: You don't know how many people look at our CD cover or flyers and say "Oh man..I hate Disco..I thought that was a metal show..DISCO SUCKS" Whatever... If you listen you know it's not close to Donna Summer.

John: We've thought about changing the name just for that reason..but fuck em' if they think were The Village People.

Todd: Besides it too late to change the name..we got it on all our stickers and business cards and stuff.

Q: Any Final Questions, Comments, Remarks, Words of Wisdom, etc that you would like to add before the interview is complete?

Todd: Please don't name your band after a genre of music..it only causes complication, heartbreak and missed opportunity.

Greg: Look for us coming to a town near you!! check us out on.

John: We appreciate all the support.
