ADRENALIN: Explain the current Australian metal-scene to those of our “untravelled” readers. ADAM: Australia has some awesome Death/Extreme/Grindcore bands that put on some killer shows, but our scene is very separated. Generally there are only shows in the capital cities, and all of our capital cities are a minimum 10 hour drive from each other. Some are 24 hours, which therefore makes gigging interstate rather hefty on the pocket, even when flying. We are finally starting to see a lot of international bands touring here as well, after a long [metal] drought (mid 90's), which is awesome. People are starting to realize Australia has a decent metal movement and that we're not still rabid bloody convicts. In essence, our scene is small and separated but very alive and well. JUSTIN: It's ok, I guess. [We have] Some really good bands, but not enough. Australian metal these days, in my eyes, is either passionate, or trendy and unoriginal. That being said, there are a lot of passion-fuelled musicians giving it everything they've got, just like most genres of music. ADRENALIN: Since most Aussies would tell Americans “Fuck off with your Foster’s!”, could you be a little bit more constructive (and polite) than that by suggesting an Australian beer they should try and get their hands on? ADAM: MMMMMMMMMM......Beeeeeeer *drooooooooooool*. Anything free: All free beer tastes good. I'm quite partial to Coopers pale ale, but anything Coopers is good. Anything from the James Squire Brewery |
(I could quite happily drown in this stuff) and a Draughty (Carlton Draught) goes alright. I don't mind the whiskey either. Fukk! I’ll drink just about anything… Especially if it's free. JUSTIN: Yeah, the Coopers is a good drop. James Boag’s is a good beer too. And yeah - “Fuck off with ya Fosters!!” CHRIS: I've just started brewing my own beer actually, which is the best I've tasted to date. But I'm pretty into the Coopers and Squire as well, and I'm also partial to a Becks.
ADAM: Vicious, raw, brutal death metal. Nothing more. Nothing less. We're all very passionate about our metal so we're a pretty active band on stage. We move around a bit.
