** Interview
conducted by Mike of Adrenalin Fanzine - April 2006 ** |

Wow. When I
started Adrenalin Fanzine 11 years ago, I dreamed of the
possibilities of some day being able to interview GWAR. I have been
a fan since 1991 and thought up a bunch of miscellaneous
questions in my GWAR-tainted mind since day one. Unfortunately, I
forgot them all. But, now the time has come. With the help of DRT
Management, I was hooked up with a 20-question interview with GWAR's frontman (beast), Oderus Urungus (a.k.a. Dave Brockie).
ODERUS: Yeah, yer right. It is a stupid question. But pressed for an answer I would say what was up was my dick up yer butt (in a non-gay way). It's fun! ADRENALIN: Back in 1991, I bought a pack of musician collector cards. I remember some of the musicians in that pack were Tina Turner, the Nelson Brothers, Whitesnake, and GWAR (I believe the photo on the card was taken from your "Scumdogs..." album). That unique collector card is what made me want to go buy "Scumdogs of The Universe". How did GWAR end up on that card with such an odd mix of musicians? |
ODERUS: Who fucking knows? Why is the sky mauve? People are constantly figuring ways to make money off of us, knowing that to us money is worthless. I blame Sleazy P. Martini! Do you have any Whitesnake doubles?? ADRENALIN: Who were your musical influences back in the early years of GWAR? ODERUS: P.J. Proby, Herb Alpert and the Tiajuana Brass, Butthole Surfers, the sound of helicopters crashing into a crowded theme park. And of course, SLAYER. ADRENALIN: Years ago, I saw the episode of Jerry Springer where you and other GWAR members were guests of the show. How was that whole experience? ODERUS: Fucking great! All he did was talk about coke. Then he came up on stage and got eaten by the world maggot. Fucking brilliant! ADRENALIN: Will there ever be a TV/Cable show of a similar theme called The Dave Brockie Experience? ODERUS: Who is this Dave Brockie jerk-off that you speak of? ADRENALIN: I see on
www.oderus.com that you are an artist. How much of the artwork put
into your stage show, album covers, and t-shirt designs are you
responsible for?
