track. And then he goes in there and he listens to the hidden track and was like "I'll be damned man!” He was like spending this money with the people who aren't using computers, and trying to be old school and all this shit but man, you can hardly tell that much of a difference.
If someone asks me if I am an awesome mixer guy or really know how to turn the knobs, no. I am just doing the best, you know, that I and whoever is in the room, we're just trying to get that sound somehow. It is cool to hear that us guys that don't know what the fuck is going on too much can still hang with the ones that do.
ADRENALIN: I've heard you were banned from the Grand Ole Opry? A, is that true? And B, if so, how did it happen? III: No, it’s not true. The last time I was at the Grand Ole Opry, I was like, you know, it is about time to make Hank Williams a member, I didn't do no cussing or whatever. We had a TV spot and it was Hank Williams' 50th anniversary deal, and my thing is that they have an impersonator that stands at the fucking front door, acting like him, dressing like him, and he is not a member of the Grand Ole Opry and... Just not anything we need to be a part of. It is just simple as that. Look at the Grand Ole Opry back in the 50's, most everyone in the audience is a young person, and |
they are drinkin and smokin. Nowadays, it's like just going to church, praying or whatever. It's weird.
ADRENALIN: So how did you hook up with Phil Anselmo and Superjoint? And do you plan on continuing on?
III: Back when I was really getting into the drums, I was in a band called Buzzkill, and I was probably about like 17, and Phillip was in town doing the second Pantera record Vulgar Display of Power, and Dime's dad was living here and had a studio. He had a lot of down time, and he used to come out to shows and just hang out, and check us out and bullshit with us. I met Pepper (Pepper Keenan, COC) back in the day and that was the first time I got to hang out with him (Phil) and he knew who I was and all that shit. Pantera used to play here all the |
